Privacy
The short version: we collect as little as we can, we only email you if you ask, and we never sell your email.
The search box
When you type in the search box on the homepage or click one of the follow-up questions, we record what you searched and which answers you picked. We use this to learn what small businesses need and to make the site better. Please don’t type personal information into the search box. If something you type looks like an email address or phone number, we leave it out of our search analytics.
The “email me my stack” opt-in
If you choose to give us your email, we save:
- your email address
- what you searched for and the follow-up answers you clicked
- the tools we suggested to you
- the page you were on, and a rough device type and browser (for example “mobile/Safari”)
- the date and time
We do not store your IP address. To slow down spam, we briefly keep a scrambled (one-way hashed) code made from your IP address and the date, and delete it within a day.
We use your email only to send you your tool picks and occasional AI tool tips from The Intelligence Stack. Every email lets you unsubscribe. We never sell or rent your email to anyone.
Analytics
We count page views, searches and clicks on tool links with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use tracking cookies. We never send your email address to GoatCounter.
Other services this site uses
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores opt-in sign-ups.
- Google Fonts serves the site’s fonts, so your browser connects to Google to load them.
- Affiliate links: when you click a tool link, you go to that company’s site, and their own privacy policy applies there. Some links are affiliate links. Affiliate disclosure.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe to the weekly newsletter, that happens on Substack, under Substack’s privacy policy.
Deleting your data
Want your email and saved searches deleted, or want to see what we have? Reach Arvell Craig through arvellcraig.com (see the About page), or reply to any email we sent you, and we’ll take care of it.
